I want to make it last forever

Today's update is some simple statue tiles for your Rpg Maker VX creations. Enjoy! They could work nicely in a town type setting.

Simple tileset changing

0 comments on this post
I released a new script over at the gamebaker site, called "Super Simple Tileset Swapping". It's pretty much the opposite of that giant japanese monstrosity KGC Software released. :)

No passability changes. If you have any questions or problems with the script please respond over there on the forums. You can find almost a hundred of them we've made so far browsing the site.

Tori's gorgeous materials

0 comments on this post
Today I'm going to be linking you to Tori's collection of resources. They all have their own unique style, most of which are incredibly cute. She was definitely some of my inspiration behind LHA's art. :)

While most of her stuff was made with Rpg Maker XP in mind, a lot of the battlers and other materials can work well in VX.

This is only a preview of the post.

Please read her terms for using her materials. I'm not going to link you directly to that section, but it's easy enough to find with a translator.

In addition to resources, Tori has a blog linked from the main page that she posts more of her gorgeous artwork on. She's also created several cutesy games which you can download on her site.

Call for Testers

I'm currently looking for more people to help test LHA, a commercial Rpg Maker VX game I'm working on. Not a paid position. Let me know somehow if you're interested!

KGC Collection

0 comments on this post
Feeling that itch to add a new script to your project? You're in luck!

Today's material highlight is the huge pile of utility code made by a japanese scripter (s?), KGC Software. You may already be familiar with them from translation efforts in most communities.

This is only a preview of the post.
Click the link or title to view the rest.

Among the ones he's done are the following:
  • Day/night systems
  • Item categories
  • Large party systems
  • Limit breaks
  • Overdrive system
  • Steal/thief system
  • Tileset Swapping (super advanced)

Warning: Don't attempt to use a translator on the scripts themselves, you'll encounter some RGSS errors putting it into Rpg Maker VX.

Hype Machine

2D Boy will be releasing their indie game "World of Goo" soon. I'll be buying it for sure if the demo doesn't disappoint. Watch the trailers - that's the type of personality you folks should be injecting into your games!

Assorted skeletons

0 comments on this post
These were created for one of the areas of LHA. There's a tiny, friendly skeleton city which uses some of these for flavor and npc shopkeepers. None of these have animations (front view only). Also included are a blackened & capeless version of the default skeleton.

This is only a preview of the post.

I believe most of these were simply frankensprites of the default Rpg Maker VX resources. The "dust skeletons" are one of four skeleton groups players can meet. The other three are hostile based on the elements of cold, electricity & fire. I might release the Rpg Maker VX animated skeletal character sets and the elemental varieties if there's any interest.

Hype Machine

Ara Fell is an up & coming shareware RPG made in Rpg Maker XP. While it's still a long ways from release, they have some wonderful screenshots on their site. One of the best looking RMXP games I've seen.

Tapestries

One of the planned features for LiHA, but didn't suit the game in it's completed form, was a faction system. Players could join one of their choice & raid rival faction strongholds. They would've also helped defend theirs & go on special faction quests.

Today's resource is some simple tiles, variants of the wall banners that came in Tile C. Four are included: The Iron Fist, Disciples of the Aether, Silver Blades & the Coin Lords.

I recycled them to use as dungeon decorations and they surprisingly fit well into many places. It's very simple to create your own using the icon set if you wish to match these. I recommend adding more tattered/completed versions of one if you plan on using it often.

PINEDAVX people

2 comments on this post
Tomorrow I'll start posting some of my own work now that the woman is back from her gambling trip with my laptop. It looks like characters & tilesets are in the lead, we'll start with those. :)

Today's material highlight is over 50 characters done by mr. PINEDAVX. You might recognize them from his shop/request post on vx.net. But you might not, as his sprites are exclusive to there and a blog he runs.

This is only a preview of the post.
Click the link or title to view the rest.

His blog has some characters he's made exclusive to it even if you've seen his work on another site before. The site doesn't start on a new entries page, but even a drunk dog should be able to find his charchips.

PINEDAVX is also available for commercial work at a very low rate if you're looking for someone to draw characters! Check his FAQ page for details.

Warning: Much of his work is fan characters people had requested. Use at your own risk, especially if you don't want to be labelled a fangame.

Hype Machine

Amaranth Games recently announced that they will be working on a second sequel to the well-received RMXP shareware Aveyond series. Try out their games if you haven't yet, and see for yourself why they have thousands of fans worldwide.

RH: Old faces return

0 comments on this post
I'll be using the weekends to highlight some great materials in the Rpg Maker VX community you might not have known about.

Today's first highlight is some wonderful japanese RMVX charactersets designed to look like the old RTP materials from previous Rpg Makers. There's almost 50 based on Rpg Maker XP, and a couple other sets from Rpg Maker 2000 or Rpg Maker 2003.

This is only a preview of the post.

Unlike most of the japanese material websites, you don't need to use any translation tools to navigate it or find links marked "sozai"! Just click "Enter", then "Materials", and you'll find them soon enough. There's also some other misc graphics you might find useful.

He has requested that you be registered owners of both VX and the older Rpg Maker they were based on to use these characters.

Play Something

ArtBane, Enkur and Volrath recently released Arc 5 (of 6) of their critically acclaimed Rpg Maker XP game series, Master of the Wind. This installment is very story-heavy and concentrates on the death knight Stoic's past. It also finally answers the question of the Sparrow's identity.

Hello and welcome to my new blog, "Daily RMVX Resources".

This was inspired by one MACK is doing with his tileset edits, and I figured it'd be a lot of fun. I ran one of these awhile back for RMXP while I was learning scripting in the program.

Every weekday you'll find something new you can stick into your projects here. I'll try to keep them a bit of a good surprise - somewhat like Christmas, but each day or month if you don't check the site often.

I'll also be releasing a lot of the custom art I made for LHA, a shareware VX Puzzle-RPG, on the blog over the upcoming weeks. Technically this is the second post - I made one with a truckload of material links below to help you find whatever it is you're looking for.

First things first, what would you like to see here? I've got a poll started on the right, but feel free to reply with more in-depth comments. :)

Giant pile of links

I think the best way to start off this blog is with a giant list of all the other material sites I know that are RMVX-related. Yeah, I'm sending you somewhere else, as there isn't a lot of things posted here yet. :)

If you know of something (Only original VX materials & game-usable, not ripped) not listed and want to share, use the comments! I'll be adding some new links occassionally so be sure to bookmark this post if you're interested. There's over 100 of them below past the jump:

English VX Material Sites

I'm not including community posts/sites or "general material dumps" albums here, especially the ones that don't provide credit. This area is to give material creators & small groups with their very own websites a bit more attention.

Hmm... this one seems familiar!

Japanese VX Material Sites

I've tried to list them as the material creator. Add their site links as well in your credits! Please read their terms before using the material - some of them may have changed after I collected the links.

There are more, but most only have a small assortment of originals & edit/recolors. These are what I thought were the best of the bunch.

I'm not listing the largest ones, smaller communities could use the links & members more. Pro-piracy ones won't be listed as I work in the software industry. (Note to self: Double check a couple of those up above...)

Somewhat-related english communities:
The ones below we've found from gamebaker.com's referer log. There are plenty more, but these don't seem to rip off materials from other sites and post them to theirs:

As a material maker, that's very irritating!
